Setting up DHCP is a way to simplify installation in applications that do not require a static-IP address. When the configuration is complete, test the results with the command
PING [DHCP device name] [ENTER] to ensure proper setup. To accomplish the following, open a command prompt via
START->RUN->CMD on a Windows 2000/XP computer.
Telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 9999 [ ENTER ] (x = IP address of DX4020)
[ ENTER ] (Must press within 5 seconds to access setup)
0 [ ENTER ] (Server configuration)
0.0.0.0 [ ENTER ]
[ N ] (Do not set gateway IP address)
0 [ ENTER ] (Set netmask to zero)
[ ENTER ] (Do not change telnet configuration password)
[ N / Y ] (Select Yes to change DHCP device name, otherwise use default of Cxxxxxx, where xxxxxx is the last 6 HEX-digits of the MAC address)
[ 9 ] (Saves and exits)
