How to manually initialize the SC4000 Safecom radio

 Manual Initializtion

The SC4000 Radio Communicator may be manually restand /or initialized.  The rest or reinitialization of the radio is performed by momentarily installing and removing a shorting plug on the JP6 CPU RST header.  This procedure is performed on a radio that has been previously in service.  This procedure will completely erase the programming that exsists in the CPU.

1.     AC and /or DC is applied to the SC4000 and the radio is powered up.

2.     Placing the shorting plug on pins 3 and 4 and leaving the shorting plug in place allows the CPU to be initialized.

3.     Momentarily short pins 1 and 2 together.

4.     This procedure will reset the CPU.  The BAT OK LED will blink 3 times to indicate the CPU has been erased.

5.     Remove the shorting plug from pins 3 and 4.

6.     Short pins 1 and 2 together again and this will reinitialize the system.
