When using Bosch plugins inside Milestone XProtect, you might run into issues with the Metadata stream.

Possible causes and solution(s)

  • Symptoms

    • Enhanced Metadata Plugin
      • The Bosch metadata rendering is not happening
      • No object classification is shown
    • Forensic Search Plugin
      • Search always bails out at the same point in time
      • or does not show results at all

  • Causes

Due to a bug in the Milestone Driver (up to device pack 12.7) the Bosch binary metadata stream is incompletely stored.

  • Solution

An easy workaround in this scenario is to change the Metadata streaming mode in XProtect from Bosch binary to 'Bosch binary & Onvif'. This can be set in the Metadata settings in the Milestone Management Client. A final fix needs to come from Milestone with a Device Pack update.
