Upgrade from BVMS v8, or v9, or v10.1 or v11.1.1 to BVMS v12.0.1 on DIVAR IP 7000 2U R2 (DIP-71xx)

Upgrade from BVMS v8, or v9, or v10.1 or v11.1.1 to BVMS v12.0.1 on DIVAR IP 7000 2U R2 (DIP-71xx)

Note

This document is specifically for DIP-71xx as it's the DIP which supports certain versions of BVMS (regular BVMS installer) and must be updated in a certain order.
The document details how to upgrade from BVMS v8 to BVMS v12.0.1.

📚 Overview:

It is advisable that any actions performed on a Bosch Video Management Server to be done by a trained installer.

Please join the web-based trainings on Bosch Building Technologies Academy.

Taking in consideration the outdated version of BVMS (8), the upgrade to BVMS 12.0.1 must be done in steps. Each version should not be more than ~two years apart. This prevents potential issues in the upgrade process.

  1. from BVMS 8 to version 9
  2. then form BVMS 9 to version 10.1
  3. then from BVMS 10.1 to version 11.1.1
  4. then from BVMS 11.1.1 to 12.0.1

Please note, that previous BVMS release (12.0.1) was the last version supported for DIVAR IP 7000 R2 (DIP-71xx) appliances

  • Windows (Storage) Server 2012 R2 (64-bit), used in DIP-71xx, is only supported when updating your BVMS from version 10.1 or lower. MS SQL Server 2019, used as a standard version for BVMS 11.0 or higher, is not supported anymore on Windows (Storage) Server 2012 R2 (64-bit). Therefore, in case of an upgrade scenario, MS SQL Server will remain on version 2017 and such combination is still supported with BVMS 11.0 through BVMS 12.0.1.
However, for this reason it is not possible to deploy new BVMS 11.0 or higher installation on Windows (Storage) Server 2012 R2, as MS SQL 2019 installation will fail.
  • Windows (Storage) Server 2012 R2 (64-bit) is not supported for BVMS 12.1.0, and thus a DIP-71xx upgrade to this version is not supported.
  • Audit Trail feature is not supported and cannot be installed on DIVAR IP 7000 R2 (DIP-71xx) appliance, running Windows (Storage) Server 2012 operating system

Important note

Before starting the upgrade process:

  •  export your BVMS configuration and keep it on a safe location (e.g. USB stick).

It is advisable to export the configuration and then import it from previous BVMS version to the new one and then repeat the process.

You can save the exported configuration on separate folders and rename the folder with version had at the moment you exported it for safety reasons.

(warning) Valid active SMA is required for BVMS version upgrade on DIVAR IP.
Before upgrading BVMS to a new version on DIVAR IP, please make sure you have appropriate licenses for the new version.
