What to consider when you cannot control camera with IntuiKey keyboard from Operator Client on the workstation?
Question
What to consider when you cannot control camera with IntuiKey keyboard from OC on the workstation?
Answer
Please refer to page 53 from BVMS Configuration Manual and be sure that you have connected the Bosch IntuiKey keyboard to BVMS in a proper way. You can connect a Bosch IntuiKey keyboard to the COM port of a BVMS workstation (scenario 1) or to a hardware decoder (e.g. VIP XD, scenario 2).
Note
- For connecting the Bosch IntuiKey keyboard with a BVMS workstation, use the specified Bosch cable.
- For connecting the Bosch IntuiKey keyboard with a VIP XD decoder, you need a cable which connects a serial COM port of the keyboard with the serial interface of the decoder.
Please make sure that the port, baud rate, data bits are set correctly.
Also, check the Port from Device Manager -> Ports (COM & LPT) and see the exact port if COM1 or other. If other, please change the settings in BVMS CC accordingly.
Verify PCIe Card Drivers:
If you are using a Serial PCIe card, please verify that the PCIe card to which the keyboard is connected to, if it has the necessary drivers installed for proper functionality.
Check Port Connections and Settings & Verify Default Allegiant RS-232 Settings:
As well you should check the port connections, the Baud rate, COM port number listed in Device Manager to match the default settings listed in the installation manual of the keyboard.
The Allegiant RS-232 settings are user-programmable, but the default settings are:
– Baud: 19,200
– Stop bits: 1
– Data bits: 8
– Parity: None
– Handshake: None
If the keyboard has a baud rate of 9600 after is added in Configuration Client, and if your Serial PCIe card can be configured, then our suggestion is to try use a baud rate of 9600 using the corresponding COM port shown in Device Manager.
In normal circumstances, the keyboard does not require additional configuration steps than the COM port addressing after is added in BVMS using Configuration Client. So, please remove the keyboard from Configuration Client and add it again and do not change any settings afterwards.
Check RS-232 Connection
We also recommend to check the RS-232 connection and check the wiring diagram from the installation manual (page 24).
This connection requires a standard Null modem RS232 link. If desired, the Bosch Security Systems cable S1385 can be used. Connect one end of the RS-232 interface cable to the 9-pin RS-232 Serial Port located on the far right side of the rear of the keyboard. Connect the other end of the RS-232 interface cable to a COM port on the PC.
Change Protocol Setting
You will need to change the protocol setting back to RS232 so that the unit shows RS485 as per below:
- What to check if the KBD-Digital cannot be connected to the BVMS workstation?
- Then, check the Device Manager after the KBD is connected to view the COM port that is in use.
In Configuration Client on the workstation, verify that the correct COM port is chosen to match the port that is assigned to the KBD.
