Naming a camera is one of the basic settings of a camera. When naming a camera, it is best not to include any special characters as depending on where you integrate the camera, special characters can create confusion with other systems.

It is recommended to assign an unique name to assist in identification. This name simplifies the management of multiple devices in more extensive systems.

The name is used for remote identification, for example, in an event of an alarm. Choose a name that makes it easy as possible to identify the location unambiguously.

Depending on the purpose and apps or software used, there are multiple ways for changing the Bosch camera name, such as:

Step-by-step guide

Configuration Manager:

After authenticating on your camera, go to General Unit Access

The “Unit Access” sub menu has three sub menus, the first of which is “Camera Identification”:

  • Device Type: Static
  • Camera Name: This will be reflected in all apps as the camera name.
  • DEVICE ID: Management ID for larger sites.

Change the Video name as desired > click Save button

Once saved, this change will take effect and the new camera name will be visible in the Network list:

Camera's WEB page

Type in the IP address of your camera in a WEB Browser and authenticate on it.

Select Configuration option > expand the General menu > select Identification > Change the camera's name in the Device name box > click Set to save your changes.

(info)  By changing the name from the camera's WEB page, this will take effect on all Apps.

Project Assistant App

After accessing the project from the Project Assistant App, select the camera you want to rename and select Basic setup > add the new camera's name and click on the "check" button.

Once saved, this change will take effect and the new camera name will be visible in the List:

BVMS

In order to change the camera's name in BVMS, you have to open Configuration Client, select the camera you want to rename and right click on it > select Rename > type in the new camera's name > press Enter

Do not forget to Save & Activate, in order for this change to take effect in Operator Client as well:
